The name Erebus is also used as a referral for the dismissal to the realm of Hades (Hell). Peitho was the goddess or spirit (daimona) of persuasion, seduction and charming speech. PHYSICAL. Simply because of his frame, Erebus can come across as taller than he seems at a comfortable sixteen-some hands. Neither the biggest or broadest, he is rangy, though it is not to say he is lacking in decent muscle tone. Giving him the look of somewhere between an animal built for speed and an animal built for strength, defined cords of muscles wrap his limbs in nothing short of perfect precision. Not a far cry to say he is simply an all-rounder - well balanced and carefully honed in all areas, like a decent male should be.
He simply is what he is, as he has never had any aspirations to be the fastest or the strongest; provided that he survives, he does not mind how he looks. But there is an unusual languidity to his steps, that undoubtably attractive cat-like grace. It is .. well, sexy. Combined with the deceptive coloring of his hide, it is simply sensual and appealing, in that lazy, badass kind of way.
Erebus can come across as nearly the color of the shadows in which his name derived from, despite his ability to also glimmer and literally glow in stark sunlight. Inherited from his late father, his hooves are large and heavy, but not so large that they are out of proportion with the rest of him. Scar-wise, Erebus has clearly seen more than enough experience in battle, or in nature in general. Marring the skin of his cheekbone is a long scar, a souvenir of an enemy stallions's teeth who got too cocky before he was downed. Another long scar marrs the passage between lower whither and belly, trickling across his ribs to end in the curve of his flank, and a patch of roughened hide over his chest in the mark of an encounter with a viper's teeth.
FEARS. Loneliness, heights, snakes, being overcome by or dying of the disease.
VICES. Detachment from company, cursing, sadism, females.
STRENGTHS. His physical being, intelligence, lack of hesitation, ability to detach from his emotions.
PET PEEVES. Individuals with lack of manners, disrespect, disobedience, dew-covered grass, shedding his winter coat.
LIKES. Small and dainty females that are sweet and compassionate, nights spent strictly with his imagination, sparring with wolves, apples, long hair on females.
PERSONALITY. Erebus is .. unfathomable; there is just no other word to describe it. Actually, he could be described as rather annoying for that reason too, though his tendency towards being cheeky and a bit of a tease no doubt contributes to that. Which he is - Erebus has an unrepetant cheeky streak about the entire length of North America, and knows just how, where and when to needle someone to the stirrer and a tease, something which is only further helped along by those dark eyes and that air that practically oozes raw sensuality and daring, daring another to try and outwit that tactical genius mind and break past his barriers. As such, he comes across as rather cocky sometimes, almost arrogant, and haughty, which is no doubt emphasized by that lazy, watchful saunter of his.
As aforementioned, he is unfathomable. He is literally the epitome of the bad boy - mysterious, dark, sexy, and with the air that just dares someone to try and get by him. He often leaves even the strictest of minds wondering just what he has done or what he is thinking, even if he has done nothing, and can generally drive anyone to distraction - particularly females - with a well placed, slight smirk and that infamous eyebrow quirk, complete with those glittering, depthless blue eyes, and, now and again, that alluring, husky, almost rough and growl-like tone of voice (Gods forbid the unwitting female soul that actually hears him laugh out loud). He is also deathly patient, able to sit silently in one spot for hours, which can be quite scary at times.
However, Erebus has barriers, just like everyone else, but his are probably a little more controlled and stonier than most, simply because of not only his life as a widow, but the life he led in his childhood, or rather, lack of childhood. He is, in fact, very secretive and closed off from the majority of other people, never letting anybody else see the true Erebus, and only a very select few have ever seen the true Erebus. With the life he had, it is not too surprising that he does act like that - silent and shadowy, watchful and almost wary, secretive and keeping his thoughts and emotions closed up and locked off securely by the strength of his practical, intelligent mind. He is also rather reserved and shy at times of company - head shy is probably a good description, as he acts rather like a startled animal when he is suddenly confronted, particularly where emotions are involved and he cannot just turn off and win the confrontation with physical force or sharp, cold logic. As such, it is extremely hard to get past that, and more than once, he has caused trouble and pain for himself and others because he just is not good at opening up verbally (in fact, given the chance, he hardly speaks at all unless he knows and trusts the person implicitly, something that is further hard to gain with him).
It is not to say Erebus is cruel or nasty, though. Quite the opposite, actually, despite how he may act and speak on the outside. Erebus is in fact rather uncertain of himself sometimes - perhaps not physically; he is aware of his strength and finesse as a fighter - but he can be quite vulnerable if one exposes his inner self and makes him confront it; it is almost sad, really, how much like he can become like the child he never was sometimes. He would never, ever hurt those he loves and adores in any way, or try not to, and rather, the depths of his loyalty and adoration for those special few - from his team mates to his immediate family - is almost on the brink of worship for them - quite frankly, the depths of his love for those select few seem to have no boundaries, and can be rather overwhelming sometimes, though infinitely warming and rewarding, as the implicit trust and surprisingly sweet, warm, protective nature he shows towards you is something to be treasured.
His biggest issues with this is probably that he can be extremely overprotective and possessive sometimes, prone to jealousy if his worry is aroused (though he can generally keep that under control with his intelligent, strong mind), rather fearful of the idea of losing what he loves to anybody in any way even if he will never show it, and now and again, what is an intensely passionate nature both physically and mentally can be somewhat overwhelming even for him sometimes, though in the end, he will give absolutely everything he is capable of giving, even if it is just quiet - no flowery words or extravagant gifts from him, because what you see if what you get, and in the end, if you love him enough, the silence speaks far louder with him than anything else ever could.

HISTORY. Though he is not one to flaunt drama and tragedy, Erebus' life has never been lacking in it. When he was nine months old, Khronos, his beloved father, was killed, though he took the passing wolf that dared threaten his family down with him. Erebus never quite figured out what happened after that, but something seemed to snap in his mother, and he became the victim of her random rages as frequently as he did the moments when she would let him feed. However, Erebus found a way to combat this, and find little joys .. by protecting, playing with and coddling Khronos' legacy when they were born, the little twins and Erebus' brother and sister, Aither and Kichiro.
Erebus doted on his favorite siblings, probably more than most would, and thus, he was absolutely heartbroken when little Kichiro was killed in a particularly murderous storm, crushed by a falling power-line pole. It deeply wounded the young male's heart, and once Aither, his brother, was old enough, Erebus handed over the responsibility of their mother's well-being, told his brother to take care, and fled their little niche in the forest.
After that, Erebus spent some time wandering, getting some of his scars, and doing everything a lone male did. He kept to the shadows, though he sought companionship now and again, and it was doing this that he would meet a young dun Andalusian and a fully black Quarter Horse, Dotro and Kuro. They banded together, becoming rather the bane of the bachelor existence, and stayed together for a few years, wandering about before they found their respective homes. Kuro found a young grullo mare whose name was Halia, and went with her. Dotro found a rather fiery beauty known as Sayuri, and went with her. It was a sad parting, but unlinke most, the males promised to keep in contact in some way and form, even if it was just a passing hello when they saw each other. After this, Erebus wandered some more, before he found a joy of his own.
Nyx was almost as tall as he, willowy, pale cream, shy, but sweet and kind. Probably not a female anyone who knew Erebus expected him to fall for, but Nyx was and still is the love of Erebus' life. He protected her fiercely, and she bore two foals. The first was Kichiro, named after Erebus' long dead little sister, a cheeky little filly who was the apple of her sire's eye. Ryomaru followed a year on, as shy and sweet as his mother, with the same wide emerald eyes. Erebus' life was, quite simply, as perfect as it could be after the heartache he had endured.
However, Heartache clearly was not finished with him. When he was six, a severe winter struck, and Nyx, who had never been particularly meaty, fell gravely ill. As Erebus was injured at the time, he could do nothing to get her elsewhere, and on the night of the winter solstice, Erebus was left with no love and a broken heart without his precious Nyx. It was not over yet, though. Mere weeks later, Kichiro was attacked by an older male when she refused to go with him, and though her sire and brother chased him away, they arrived too late, and Kichiro died of the wounds inflicted on her. Completely and utterly hateful of the world at this point, Erebus began his wanders again, with Ryomaru at his side. However, when he came of age, Erebus ordered Ryomaru to cease following his bitter, wounded father, and find a love and a place of his own. It hurt him deeply, sending his son away, but it was for the best. Since then, Erebus has since .. wandered.
