AMARI
NAME. Amari. (INFECTED WITH DIVUS)
NICKNAME(S). Ari
AGE. 7 (horse years)
SPECIES. Horse
BREED. Morgan x Thoroughbred cross
GENDER. Mare.
HEIGHT. 15hh
WEIGHT. Average
COAT. Very dark liver chestnut with flaxen mane and tail/flaxen bay, so that her coat appears black but is actually dark brown.
EYE COLOUR. It should be blue, but because she is blind they appear to have no pupil, they are both clouded over with whiteness like a fog, due to an illness she suffered as a filly.
NOTABLE MARKINGS. There is no white on her what-so-ever. The DIVUS marking can be found on her cheekbones.
PHYSICAL. There is no doubt about it, Amari is not a pretty horse. Looking at her, the first thing one would think of is how eerie she looks. With her silvery flaxen mane and almost black coat, she is ghost-like. Only adding to her strange appearance is her eyes, a cloudy white that indicate her blindness. Her mane and tail are not overly long, but are thick and lush, like a fog about her. Her build is typical of that of a thoroughbred, but not nearly as tall. She is infected, so her cheekbones are marked with the smoke-like tendrils of the Divus mutation. She is surprisingly sure-footed, considering her blindness. However, because she was born blind, certain things do not come as naturally as they might for someone who was born without eyesight. Her body is completely free of markings, except for her cheekbones, where the imprint of Divus is found. She is slightly thinner than she should be, not weight wise, but in the sense of muscle tone because of the sickness that wreaked havoc on her young body so long ago. She has a very slender build that might actually be appealing if it wasn't for her other ominous features. She is known for her acute sense of hearing. She is very quiet when moving about, barely making a sound on most terrain.
FEARS. Heat and flame, light (she is nearly always in the shadows- it's just something she can sense), falling to her death, heights, being a nuisance to sighted horses
VICES. Not social, not timid/doesn't show fear or ask for help, not a strong fighter.
STRENGTHS. Agile, acute senses, intelligent, intuitive, good sense of direction, sure-footed
PET PEEVES. heat, teasing, feeling like a burden, not knowing an area, crowds
LIKES. Water, forests, small amounts of company, shadows, feeling helpful
PERSONALITY. Ari may as well be a ghost, because she largely keeps to herself, occasionally banding with a small sect for a short period of time. She feels most secure on her own or around trusted individuals. (her instinct often gives her a "gut feeling" about the horse or wolf in question). She is very quiet and keeps to the shadows, preferably in a dense forest near a water source. She is very ominous and even as a young horse was known for warning friends about certain things. She has very little patience and often will not wait around to be introduced or discover something, unless it really sparks her interest. She is extremely quite but occasionally will turn up to aid a horse to a water source or a foal back to it's mother, feeling that it is her duty to help those she does not accompany. She is not openly prideful, but defends her blindness with a surprising amount of passion, having accepted it and believing that she is blind for a reason. She does not get lonely easily, though she mourns the loss of her twin the most. (see history). She is often very blunt and straightforward when she says something, giving a clear warning - or rather, a warning that seems perfectly clear to her. Only very rarely will Amari confess her fear, even when something has her trembling in fright. She has a great sense of direction and enjoys wandering about secluded forest paths, always able to find a spot or relocate one she has left. She is also a strong swimmer, occasionally wading into rivers or streams that she comes across. To sum her up, Amari is no ray of sunshine: she is a seclusive, quiet, ominous being who is nowhere near normal.
MOTHER. Silvyrnett, deceased.
FATHER. Shawdon, deceased.
SIBLINGS. Twin Crescentla, believed to be deceased.
HISTORY. Perhaps the only paradise this mare has ever experienced was her childhood. As a filly, her life was good. It was just herself, her mother, her father, her twin sister and a few other horses, who in reality were struggling to survive, but they shielded the foals from that. Her sister grew closer to her by the second, to the point where they were nearly impossible to separate. The two were like two parts of the same soul, working in perfect unison. Then, slowly, things fell apart. Her mother caught the disease, and died, not knowing that there was in fact a cure. Her family fled in fear of catching it, scattering in panic. Her father and the others fled, leaving the two sisters far behind. Not long after the separation, Amari caught a horrid disease that wrecked her body, leaving her weak and blind. It was Noroi. At first she bled, then her sister found a strange plant and gently instructed that she eat it. Who knows how her sister had the knowledge of the cure, but somehow she knew, and Amari healed. Cresentla did not warn her of the aftermath, even when one day the disease left it's mark, a Divus symbol on either cheekbone. Her sister was there for her as the only one who had stayed with a familiar horse, caring for her, until she healed and learned to cope with the horrifying aftermath. It left Amari shocked and scared, was she going to be like this forever? It was strange, very strange, and Amari felt blessed to have Cresentla to aid her. One day her sister just disappeared, leaving no trace. Perhaps she died, perhaps she was hit with depression; Ari has no clue, nor does she really want to know. All that is known for sure is that she is gone, and since Ari was just learning to develop herself to manage her condition, she could not track her precious twin, her other half. Amari made her way to the island herself, her sister having left her side for the first time ever. In the five years since then, Amari established herself as a loner of Toren, completely lost and sad. She has since stopped mourning her sister, still missing her but trying her best to put it all behind her.
