PHYSICAL.
At first glance, there is nothing that strikes one as remarkable or very unique about Scarlett. Standing at an average 14.2 hands, her immaculate coat is the color of rich mahogany that lightens slightly into a dark chestnut as it reaches her rump. Her eyes are dark brown, almost black with miniscule flecks of a subdued gold scattered throughout the iris. The thing that sets her apart from most others is how she carries herself, an aura of confidence and grace surrounds her. She is every bit the Arabian with an arching neck covered by a coal black mane and a dished face with a snip, a stark contrast against the black of her muzzle and with hair usually hanging in her eyes that read like an open book at times, displaying emotions she wouldn’t dare show anywhere else. Her tail is also set higher than most due to her heritage, and tends to wave like an obsidian beacon in the breeze. Her strong, ink colored legs seemingly go on forever, and one can tell Scar can run for eons; her body is trim and of an athletic build and plays host to more power then most expect her to have. She could be considered a beauty, but a traditional one instead of an exotic one.
FEARS.
*Being alone forever
* Catching the illness like her parents
*Trusting someone who doesn’t deserve it.
VICES.
*Stubborn – Scarlett has always been a stubborn one, ever since she was a little filly, it was always her way or no way. Generally, it’s a bad idea to put her and another stubborn being together for they will butt heads for eternity unless someone steps in and forces a compromise and once her mind’s been made up, it’s terribly hard to change it.
*Temper – Her infamous temper is one to be reckoned with, and others definitely don’t want to be around her when she blows up, for screaming is sure to ensue. The good thing about it is that her rage isn’t usually unleashed on others very often.
*Self-centered – Although not in the sense that she likes to talk about herself, she always puts herself and her welfare before anything else. ‘How will this help me?’ is a common question she asks herself.
STRENGTHS.
*Kind – Although self-centered, if she can she will try help out, you know, if it helps her out in the end too.
*Intelligent – Scar is very curious and intuitive. She’s one to go find out what something is if she doesn’t already know and is always hungry for more knowledge.
*Leader- She will take charge if push comes to shove. One of her gifts is that she thinks well in tense situations and can make a split second decision that won’t have too many consequences. She prides herself on catching onto things quickly. (As far as learning new things and what not goes..)
PET PEEVES.
*Imbeciles
*Sleazy males (and females for that matter)
*Being left out of the loop
*Questions. Especially stupid ones with obvious answers.
* Being startled
LIKES.
*Water; particularly the ocean.
*Observing things, whether it be other horses or something entirely different.
*Being around others
*Foals, the ones that just tumble around all cute and cuddly, not the annoying ones that ask 50 questions a minute.
*Thunderstorms and rain.
PERSONALITY.
Scar is always one to put herself first, it may be her biggest flaw, although she does think about others too, her final decisions are usually based off of how it’ll affect her in the long run. However she has strong leadership ability and an insatiable thirst for more knowledge. She’s not one to hurt others to get what she wants and would rather talk then fight. It’s not that she’s afraid, she just doesn’t see the point of useless bloodshed when the conflict could be easily resolved with words, her words to be precise. This mare is hard-headed and as stubborn as one will get. If you’re caught in an argument with her, watch out! Because there’s no way she’s going to back down even if she is wrong.
For some reason she finds it interesting to observe others, how they talk to each other, how they react, it all intrigues her and she’s been known to spend entire days just watching interactions between different horses. One of her favorite things is nature, specifically water. Ever since she was a small filly she’s had a strange fascination with water, whether it’s in the form of a creek, the ocean, or rain.
Her fierce temper is also something to watch out for, although it’s rare that she unleashes it on anyone, it’s rather unpleasant when she erupts. Scarlett has a problem with trusting others, it’s unknown why, but there’s not a single soul that she tells her problems too, she just bottles them up until some unfortunate soul ticks her off at the wrong moment. She’s a generally optimistic person, preferring to see what could be or seeing the better side of things then depressing those around her with pessimistic words. Although she refuses to share her problems, Scar hates being alone and would rather be with a big group then just by herself.
MOTHER. Kit, deceased.
FATHER. Boulder, deceased.
SIBLINGS. Jay, living, age 7.
HISTORY.
Scarlett’s history isn’t very interesting. No tales of abuse and torture, just a normal, happy family. That’s what they were, a family. There was her father, Boulder, the strongest stallion Scar had ever known, a huge, muscular, onyx black beast of an Arabian. He stood over a hand above her mother at 15.4 hh, and he had piercing caramel eyes that made it seem like he knew your every secret. He was strong and unafraid, willing to protect his family to the death if need be, as proof of this devotion, his coat was littered with various battle scars. His mate Kit, Scar’s mother, was one of the most beautiful mares she’d ever laid eyes on. She stood at a smaller 14.0 hh, and had a coat of unmarred chestnut and soft chocolaty eyes that made you feel safe. She was always there to comfort Scar when needed, and was the only person Scar told her problems to. As a filly, said problems would be that the other foals wouldn’t play with her or what-not. Her brother, Jay was 2 years older then Scarlett, and resembled his father immensely. He was tall as well, standing at 15.2 hh with a muscular, stocky build. Between him and his father, their family was well protected. As siblings, the two were very close and did most things together, when you saw one, the other was undoubtedly close by.
It wasn’t long after the some of the other horses got sick that Scarlett’s mother caught the strange illness. She lasted only a short two weeks until the illness took over and her once beautiful mother turned into a gaunt, skeletal form of her old self. Scar was there when her mother breathed her last, her once pristine coat stretched across her bones and tinted with the color of fresh blood, she could’ve eaten the plant but refused too, stating she didn’t want to depend on anything just to live. Her father fell sick only three days afterwards, he too stubbornly refused to eat the plant, and died a mere three weeks later.
So that was how Scarlett’s idealistic life had turned upside down in a matter of just over a month. At age 3, she and her 5 year old brother were orphans. The two siblings stayed together for just over a year when suddenly, her brother decided he wanted to go out on his own. And so he did, leaving Scarlett behind at age 5, knowing she could take care of herself, more or less.
