TULELO NAME. Tulelo NICKNAME(S). Survivor, Tu, Tutu, Tulip AGE. 1yr 2 seasons SPECIES. Chrysocyon brachyurus BREED. Maned Wolf GENDER. Female HEIGHT. 30in WEIGHT. 50lbs. COAT. Reddish with cream underbelly and "tip" markings with restricted black points on the ears, back, and legs. EYE COLOUR. Deep brown NOTABLE MARKINGS. Black muzzle, legs, chest and portion of back with white or cream tips on ears, underbelly tail, jaw and neck. PHYSICAL. A lanky creature suitable for running, Tulelo's shoulder measures thirty inches off the ground; a length mainly attributed to her legs. She has a gangly walk, reaching with her hind far forward and making medium length stretches with her forepaws which causes her to look almost equine-like, much like a pacer, when at a walk. In a run, she is far more mobile and versatile, dodging as if she were a leaf in the wind. It is a wonder how she does not become tangled in her long legs! Tulelo's legs are not the only unusual feature to her. Unlike other lupines, her ears are much larger being both boarder then the standard lupines and more oblong shaped. The size of her ears, like her legs, is deceptive and they are rather pliable for their size and shape and can be pinned to her neck if needed.
As if the oddities ended there, Tulelo's coloring reminds those of a bay equine rather than an everyday wolf. She has black points on her legs, muzzle, ears and chest with a body coat of reddish fur. The only difference between classical "bay" horses and her coloring is the black point on her back running from the back of her skull to mid vertebrae and white on her underbelly, ears, neck, jaw, and tail.
Tulelo's anatomy is quite intriguing. Her legs are like stilts, which can look unusual in one pace such as walking, stalking or "rearing", when she rears it is as if her legs are large sticks poking the other beast, or natural while running. Her legs are the result of ages of evolution, suited for the long grasses in plain areas. Being in areas with long grasses is easy for Tulelo, although she never minds a romp through grassless areas. It is just the structure of her legs that gives friends and foes a good bit of guesswork while watching her move. Yet, it comes in handy when needing to stand tall.. FEARS. - Dying, she has only mentioned this fear to one being
- Religion or an Omniscient being, she believes religion and the belief of a being changes creatures into becoming unthoughtful zombies obsessed with the end of "times" or "life", or something that can lead her to her death
- Reincarnation, she fears it because she fears dying - essentially reincarnation is dying multiple times to her
- Silence, unlike her kind she fears silence since she can not see or understand what is coming next
VICES. - Outspoken, she is very loud not prone or even willing to listen to others for longer than a few moments
- Unwilling to fight, because she fears death she is unwilling to fight as it could cause her untimely end, note: fight as in an actual physical fight, she's not afraid to hunt prey as she is rather agile for her build but being forced into a one versus one, equine versus wolf or wolf versus wolf is some thing she refuses to do.
- Quick lipped, as she doesn't listen well Tulelo is very quick lipped, sassy, snappy, which is one thing most leaders do not like - it can cause her to accidentally start quarrels among her living mates if they are equally quick lipped or don't understand Tulelo's position
- Judgemental, her history has much to do with this but she is quick to judge along with being quick lipped.
STRENGTHS. - Agile, contrary to her size and leg length she is quite agile and able to dodge just about anything (just about being the key words here), she also loves to hone this skill any chance she has as long as it's not in a dangerous fight
- Quick Witted, also the opposite of what one would think, she is quick witted not due to being analytical but because of habit and nature. she does what comes natural to her and usually it works
- Independence, she can work and hunt alone if need be due to her past and upbringing, being independent has helped her in many ways in the past such as keeping her from starving to death
- Hearing, due to the shape and size of her ears, Tulelo can hear much more and from further distances than her other lupine cousins, which is excellent because she's never really in complete silence and she can her about a coup from yards away
PET PEEVES. - Males & masculine females, she does not discriminate, any natural born male and masculine females make Tulelo shudder. She only comes into contact with males when she needs...to [actual description censored :0 ] and she sees no need for a female to be masculine (note: does not mean "females can not lead" it is the female who acts masculine that bothers her)
- Cold, being born in a very warm climate at a warm time of the year, Tulelo becomes pissy with the cold weather (perfect time for her to join, eh?)
- Listening, she would rather talk over others than hear what must be said. She can listen briefly and only with specific direction. Long winded or overdrawn speeches bore her and she usually does her own thing if she becomes bored
- Analyzing, she is more of a do things by nature creature rather than an analytical one. Do not ask her to sit and think. She won't do it.
- Being told "no", especially when she wants to explore. She believes being told "no" or "stay" is a form of another trying to control her. Because she has been independent for so long she hates being told no and in consequence hates...
- Control, as stated above she hates being told no because she can handle things on her own.
- Being misunderstood, she talks a lot-explains a lot and even talks some more. How can any creature misunderstand her?
LIKES. - Heat, in any form - fire, hot weather, hot liquid...as long as it's not deathly hot
- Traveling, Tulelo hates staying in one space for prolonged periods of time which makes her a terrible leader in one sense and a sensible leader in another. It is her love of travel which saved her from the disease.
- Languages, believe it or not different species and sub species have their own languages. For horses it could be the nicker and whinny and for wolves it is the howling and other body language. Tulelo loves learning "new" languages from the body language of different species and subspecies, spoken and body language.
- Playing, since she is still rather young, Tulelo loves spending her time with others playing feeling as if it is easier to bond that way rather than listening
- Exploring, new places, faces, and situations are exciting to Tulelo - just remember they are exciting as long as they don't kill her..or attempt to kill her
- Life, Tulelo lives 'in the now' and does not ponder tomorrow or what may happen, she can't otherwise she wouldn't move anywhere.
PERSONALITY. Oh darling Tulelo, a little girl who, from birth, could only explore and venture on her own! She is a very outspoken young Maned wolf, tending to talk rather than listen. She speaks of everything and nothing, mindless chatter and babble, to keep the silence away. The dreaded silence! Nothing strikes fear into her blood like silence, well, unless you consider death. Yes, death might possibly scare her more than silence, let's go with that. Right, silence reminds her of death, her ultimate fear and then there is reincarnation which makes you die over and over and over again! Oh the horrors! Death, not seeing or experiencing or even knowing what becomes of you, or or the pain that engulfs your body before everything turns dark and you are no longer in what the living call "existence". It is the idea of death and the reality of death that strikes fear into the Maned wolf the most and dictates most of her decisions.
But her whole persona is not controlled by death, or avoiding it, or avoiding things like it. Tulelo loves travel and exploration and life itself far too much to allow the idea of life turning into nothing bring her down and allow her to shut the world out. She is independent, able to hunt and fend for her own although she would rather run from a one on one fight than go till the death..ha ha, that was a sick joke on my part. The more she explores the more species and breeds she meets and the more she learns how to speak in other tongues and languages. A grand thing it is to talk, but it is even more grand to be able to speak, not listen, to others with another language! Language frees her from a simple "stay" or "no". Language, exploration, travel, it all frees her from control. Control, her hatred of it, is the reason she does not allow her fear to dictate her entire life; is the reason she will not stay in one place.
Tulelo is still a very young wolf. She has only lived six seasons (a year and a half) and still has much to learn, particularly how to listen even if she does not like to listen. Because she is still youthful, she is playful and energetic. Tulelo rarely sits still for more than the time it takes her to rest. With all this energy and talk she is more than a handful for any leader to deal with. Her strong sense of independence has taught her to be a quick thinker, light on her feet, and very judgemental of those around her. If she does not like you, you know it. If she befriends you, you know that too. The most confusing thing to Tulelo is when others misunderstand her as she sees herself as being very open and does not understand how others can become aggravated or annoyed with her behavior. Alas, like I said, Tulelo is still a very young wolf and she has a lot to learn both about herself and socially. History has not been kind to her yet as she has not had the time to become socially accepted. Anywhere.. MOTHER. Freh, deceased. Perished by the disease which was transmitted by the father FATHER. Affarah, deceased. Passed from the disease. SIBLINGS. Coal, deceased. Elma, Unknown HISTORY. It was later in the year, about August as we would call it, and the seasons were just transitioning from the blazing summer to the vivid fall. However, the heat remained in the transition. Springs and water holes which the family of Maned wolves used became barren and many of the loners were forced to live in the same space of land for food and drink. The wolves were forced because naturally they did not find packs ideal. Freh was a bitch who hated the company. She had heard tales of a disease from the North barging its way into other territories. Idiot bitches and the like attempting to flee its grasp only to find they had spread the disease. Here she was, forced to share a watering hole with strange wolves, some of her kin and some from the north. It was terrible enough to her that mating season was coming on, as August was her only break of it, and yet the forced social habit had seemingly sped up the natural process.
Northern wolves had brought their mating rituals into the southern territory, some force breeding with the native Maned wolves. Freh made sure she took note of those not so fortunate and made sure to stick to her kin. In the days that followed, a new male Maned wolf stumbled into the social mess. She eyed the male from a distance, analyzing him, making sure she had a mental log for the upcoming breeding season. If there was a disease, she had to watch all around her for her sake and for the sake of her progeny. As time came closer, she considered the young male more and more. She would begin to follow him in his morning rituals. She would follow him to his part of the hunting grounds. She would even catch his attention before ignoring him time after time. The game continued until the young male approached his watcher, Freh, and by that time, I'm sure you can figure what took place.
Freh gave birth to three pups, one of which was the noisiest, and most adventurous of the bunch. Originally, she named her Tutu. Tutu didn't care for the safety of her mother or the large social group. She would explore far outside the makeshift boarder of the group and would hunt snakes and lizards in the night for play. As the days passed, she honed her agility and hunting skills. When she was alone, she would talk to herself or hum, and when in a group she would boast of her explorations.
Her mother became ill, almost suddenly, Tulelo will explain it as. She can only recall her mother cursing a wolf named "Affarah", who she assumed to be her father. She kept her distance as her siblings took care of their mother. Tuto, at the time, had no maternal instinct, no reason to try and save her mother. She only needed to survive day to day. She watched as her mother perished and her brother Coal became ill. Unable to remain near the social group any longer, Tutu left the makeshift home and did as she loved; she explored.
Every now and again different creatures would follow her. Tutu ignored them for the most part until an elder gray wolf trotted beside her. He asked if she was going to the "sanctuary" he called it. It was a land where survivors lived, where they could be cured from the disease. Tutu simply responded the way she always had, by talking about whatever came to her mind. She would ask the wolf questions only to bombard his half answer with a story, cutting into his side of the conversation every time she could. The elder wolf didn't mind. He felt his time was near and seemed to prefer listening to the young one babble about. When his time had come, it was the only time Tutu stopped. He had become a friend to her, while she preferred being independent, and she heard him call her "Tulelo" which he said meant "survivor" in his native tongue. She adopted the name as she went to find the wolf some food but unfortunately he had passed in the time it had taken her to hunt.
Tulelo remembered the silence from her mother to now this wolf. Fear shook her core and she left the death site as fast as she could. She has been on her own since then, talking and whistling to herself among other things. NAME.
