HALCYON
NAME. Halcyon (Hal-sea-un)
NICKNAME(S). Cee - she is more commonly referred to by this name, as Halcyon is a bit of a mouthful
AGE. 3
SPECIES. Equine
BREED. Morgan cross
GENDER. Mare
HEIGHT. 14.2hh
WEIGHT. 900lbs
COAT. A light shade of palomino
EYE COLOUR. Purple
NOTABLE MARKINGS. White blaze
PHYSICAL. Halcyon's coat is a relatively uniform shade of palomino, which is what makes her unusual markings so eye catching. Unlike her lightly hued hide, her markings are pure black. Along her back, stripes extend from her spine, wrapping half-way down her ribs on either side. Her legs have a similar pattern; primitive, banded stripes reach her hocks on her back legs, and her knees on her front. She has the athletic, petite build which is common among morgans, and a high head carriage to complete the look. Cee's eyes are perhaps slightly above the average size, and are incredibly expressive. Her pupil is bordered by an almost navy colour, but this brightens to an icy sapphire in the majority of her iris. Her eye is bordered by a thick, black outline which gives them an almost feline appearance - vaguely reminiscent of a teenager who's gone a little crazy on the eyeliner. Her mane is a light shade of flaxen, almost white, and her tail begins this way too. Further down, however, her tail begins to darken to hay-like colour. A medium-sized white blaze runs down her face and fades into a charcoal smudge which coats her muzzle. Although the hide on her legs is usually invisible due to the fact that she is constantly trekking through the mud, beneath all of this they are a lighter shade of beige than the rest of her body. At present, she is slightly underweight; living on her own means that it is hard to come by food sources that aren't already taken.
FEARS.
- Heights
- Falling too deeply in love
- Death
- Grizzlies
VICES.
- MENTAL ILLNESS: Cee is afflicted by a strange mental disorder which causes her to hallucinate. Some days, it doesn't affect her at all, but other days, it's so bad that she can't bear to even open her eyes.
- BLUNTNESS: Cee is sometimes a little too up front. Perhaps this is linked with her age and she will grow out of it in time - but, at present, it is starting to be a little bit of an inconvenience. Whether this bluntness comes in the form of arguing, flirting or telling the truth, it always seems to get her into trouble.
- ADRENALINE JUNKIE: Cee's entire will to live is driven by her constant thirst for adrenaline. This isn't always a bad thing, but it has frequently come close to causing her serious harm.
STRENGTHS.
- SWIFT: Cee is as swift and ellusive as the deer that make their homes in the forests of the land. Despite her size, she is amazingly fast - and if she doesn't want to be caught, you are highly unlikely to catch up with her.
- KIND: Cee tends to be able to make friends quite easily, and would try never to say a cruel word against someone without good reason.
- GOOD SENSE OF HUMOUR: She is able to diffuse potentially awkward situations with a joke or pun. Sometimes, however, she just ends up making the situation even more awkward.
PET PEEVES.
- Cold weather
- The lack of hours in the day
- Those who are afraid to get their hooves dirty
- Egotism
- Being unable to put feelings into words
LIKES.
- Summer
- Thunder storms
- The power of the ocean

PERSONALITY.
The most odd - and perhaps noteable - aspect about Cee's personality is the strange disease that cripples her mind. The most unusual part about it is that some days it fails to surface, and you would struggle to pick out that anything was different about her. On other days, however, it is virtually impossible for her to even open her eyes for the fear of the awful, grotesque hallucinations that await her. The hallucinations aren't always bad, though; sometimes, her mind conjures up images of talking squirrels, and flowers that grow as tall as the sun. Fortunately, the affliction doesn't seem to affect any other aspect of her personality; although it should be noted that she does sometimes develop an obsession with repeating a certain behaviour, such as collecting shells.
In general, Cee has got a good heart. In a fight or flight situation, she would much prefer to take flight - although it must be said that she is not afraid to stand up for herself. She loves to make others happy, and quite frequently puts their needs before her own. Love, however, is not something Cee takes lightly; she is incredibly scared of it, and has fortunately managed to avoid it so far in her life. In lots of situations, her bluntness can get her into trouble; whether it's to do with flirting, arguing, or telling the truth, Cee can often say what she's thinking in far less than sensitive terms. This isn't a mean habit, however; it's simply due to a lack of understanding and maturity. Her insatiable thirst for adrenaline also lands her in a lot of sticky situations; her burning desire to take risks isn't the safest of hobbies, and it's almost certain that - someday soon - she will get her comeuppance.
MOTHER. Demesne, living
FATHER. Crim, deceased
SIBLINGS. An elder brother that she never met, deceased.
HISTORY.
Cee was born in the middle of a period of severe depression for her family. She was intended to be the little sister to her parent's already existing yearling, Toph. Cee was born in the tail end of summer, but her story began long before she was born.
Two years prior to her birth, Cee's brother was born. Even at birth, he was impressive; he was up and moving with just moments, and his pelt was as golden as the sun. An awed hush would fall over the other horses as he ambled by. Even nature seemed to admire him; the birds in the canopy would suddenly become quiet when they saw him, and as the mottled rays of sunlight filtered through the treetops they would fall over his pelt in just the right way to enhance his already majestic aura. As he grew, so did his fanbase. The fillies would follow him for hours just for him to glance their way, and return home utterly delighted by this seemingly unimportant gesture. Of course, his parents - too - adored him; he was the apple of their eye. And then everything changed.
In the summer of Toph's second year, a severe heatwave struck the land. The weak and elderly were hit hardest, and the population began to drop. Cee's family were luckily unharmed; strength obviously ran in the family, as even her grandparents survived the insane heat. As usual, Toph went on his usual patrol about this forest - an entirely unnecessary action that was designed purely to showcase his athleticism and almost unnatural beauty. He never came back. A small plume of smoke rose from a patch of leaves in the clearing that Toph had been posing in. Of course, he hadn't noticed this; he was far too busy being brilliant. As the first, timid orange flame licked over the surface of a dry leaf, Toph's fate was confirmed. He didn't stand a chance; even with his muscular build, he couldn't escape the grasp of the fire. His followers soon proved their eternal devotion when they fled at the first sign of danger, not even returning to check if he had made it out alive.
The next day, Halcyon was born. Of course, she wasn't Halcyon back then - her parents refused to name her. They wanted nothing to do with her. She remained nameless for the first week of her life. Her parents began to simply refer to her as it - "What's it doing?", "Why's it looking at me?", "It will never replace Toph". Eventually it became clear to Cee's grandparents that she would die of starvation if they didn't intervene, so they took her in. It was an odd relationship, at first; Cee didn't really understand why she couldn't be with her parents anymore. After an indistuinguishable amount of time, her grandparents took over the role of her parents completely; after this, Cee never really thought of her biological mother and father as her parents. Her grandmother named her Halcyon, a word full of joy and hope and promise.
