"And if this is to be my destiny, than I shall die a Queen." -Unknown
She'd come a long way since her arrival in the promise lands and already, Illusion was disappointed. It didn't seem very special or anything. Sure, the rainforest was pretty neat- not that she knew much more than that. The three nights leading to this day were all a blur of confusion and terror in the back of her mind now.
She'd been crossing the sunken land-bridge, paradise in sight- a new start. The travel had been exhausting- so much water and she'd lost count of how many times she'd been force to swim a mile or two at a time. She couldn't help her size, but sometimes the wolfdog wished she could have just a few more inches in her legs or something. She especially wished just that, as the storm clouds moved in over head barely half a day away from shore. She could see it... and then, darkness and a gripping pain as the tide pulled her under.
The rest of the experience was an intellible blur. She woke to find herself entangled in rocks on the steep shore of a vast jungle setting. At first, in her daze, she managed only to crawl up onto a flat surface above the water's reach. After a few hours of rest, she worked her way up the steep ledge and into the dense foliage.
She'd managed to find her way out of the worst of it without much issue- she'd encountered a place like this once as a child. She knew the basics of how to survive, having still been with her brother at the time. Now, she felt more confident. She'd even managed to catch a lizard in her trek. Her hunger was settled for now and the lay of the land ahead was reassuring and clear- like a real paradise, but... so barren. So... typical. Where were the packs?
Her worries ended momentarily at the sign of prey. The hungry mix dropped down into the grass smoothly, eyes and ears trained to the rustling in the grass ahead. A small head poked up to look around- a hare! She couldn't believe her luck. When the hare's head dropped back down, she crept closer. Almost close enough to jump and snap, the thing startled and darted away. She gave chase and in four quick leaps, overtook the creature, making quick work of it. Her prize, a good meal and energy to continue her journey! How fortunate!
The girl grabbed up her kill and wandered away into a clearer spot, beside a rather thin and tall tree. A sapling, maybe. She settled down and began the tedious task of plucking away all of that annoying fur- how unfortunate.
