Rancid shoved past the brush into a more tight-spaced environment. He stopped once he realized that he was, in fact, inside of Vessay territory. He was not particularly scared at the thought, nor did it bring him much excitement, but it did bring him a sense of wonder. He had always wondered what it was that they did, since they seemed like a pretty close-knit group. His blue eyes slowly engulfed every detail as he spanned the horizon from left to right. That settled it for him, he was totally and completely in love with the place. It suited him well since he has a fear of open spaces and the forest heart was probably the most snug place he would ever find in all of Toren. Though, he had to admit, he wasn't exactly the type of wolf that just walked in and joined a sect. Somehow, that just didn't feel like the right way to approach things. There had to be a process. Unintentionally, he realized he was pacing from one large tree covered in moss and fungi to another similarly large tree, but untouched by the moss and fungi. "First, I must earn the trust of one or more of their members.." He said to himself aloud, still pacing all the while. "Then, gradually, I may even be invited to join their ranks. Before I know it, I could be come great friends with everyone..." He stopped suddenly, Wait..why does it sound as if I plan to invade them and start a coup d'etat? Perhaps Cid was thinking about it in all the wrong ways and that was why he words seemed to be coming out a little twisted. He was never taught the etiquette one showed while trying to join a sect, he always had this idea as if it was some kind of long and difficult process. After all, most of his puphood was spent running away from everyone else and his parents never volunteered to inform him that there was such a wondrously beautiful and deadly world out there. Perhaps joining a sect was just as simple as asking to join? Cid just didn't feel right about asking for something, he felt as though he must earn it just like you would anything else in life. Life itself was something you earned when you wake up the next day and coupled with the joy of knowing that you are not infected..it is something that we, the survivors, earn daily. Perhaps he was being a bit dramatic in thinking this, but it was a truth he admitted to quite easily in spite of his sheltered life with his parents. I'm sure that I am over-thinking this, but I just can't seem to help it. I have my principles-. He jerked his head up at the sound of twig snapping and stopped dead in his tracks. He raised his nose and inhaled a deep breath and yet the wind was not favoring him today. Everything he could smell was immediately around him and the scent was stale. Whatever, or whoever, was out there could certainly smell him. He could feel the hairs on his back raise as the brush straight ahead of him started to move about, making loud rustling noises as if soon, someone would step into his view. A large boa slithered out, hissing at him and tasted the air with its forked tongue. He breathed a sigh of relief, "Oh, good, it's just a.. BOA!" He could swear up and down that he jumped at least ten feet into the air and immediately made a run for it. For what, you ask? Safety, of course! He would climb up one of those impossibly tall trees if he had to! Wait a second, can't snakes- especially of the boa variety- slither their way into a tree? All of his options have been blown to smithereens! No, calm down Cid. I'm sure the snake found something much easier to... He thought and peeked behind him, digest! He finished and then pushed his legs to take him farther, faster. The boa was still following him! You would think that it would get the hint, but it sure is persistent! "I'm not your food, now go bother something else like a lizard or something! Just leave me in peace!" He shouted back at the snake, as if it could understand what he was saying. Sadly, he did not speak the language of snakes..if they had one, that is. He could talk to his own kind, that was a no brainer. Horses were also not a problem, they are intelligent creatures, after all. Snakes? Nope. No way. Right about now, he was thinking that it would have been easier to just be chased off by someone in the Vessay sect. Words: 808 Comments: Anyone is welcome to join! |
