Pale light was falling on the lands, indicating that soon the sun would be shining with all her force. Right now however her lazy rays were appreciated as it was still early morning. A chill hung in the air, pressing against the land and creating a faint morning fog that seemed determined to stay. It was a lovely morning, with many attributes in which to be described. The trees and their foliage danced in the zephyr that crossed them, practicing a recital to the spring. The hues of blue in the sky were almost luminescent, appearing reflected in the lake’s surface, broken only by the ripples caused by the breeze. It seemed though that the dawn beckoned him from his slumber leaving Alsvidur with sleep clinging to his eyes. Though one might be irritated with being woken so early, Alsvidur did not exactly mind and instead of being frustrated he began the process of stretching out his limbs.
Nickering in the rising light Alsvidur lifted his form from the ground and hoofed at it carefully, pulling grass away from its tender roots. He shook the dark fawn pelt that stretched over his back, sending the mane and tail into a cascade of waves of brown and ivory. He shoved out his neck, allowing his entire body to feel the vibration of his movements, and then stopped once the sleep had been successfully tossed from his body. He was ready to embrace the day, so it seemed, but haze clung to the corners of his brain, a distant memory tickling the sides of his mind and forcing images to play behind those cerulean eyes. He closed his lids, quickly, willing the memories to fade and after a moment of silence it seemed they subsided. Today was not a day for remembering.
Instead the steady frame of the equine moved forth, his hooves drumming the ground in a beat that every horse knew. The slow gait was comforting for his adjusting bones, and he wished that he had company for such a glorious morning. In the distance he could almost form the black bodice of his brother, entirely perfect in every way, maneuvering with speed and agility like no other. He blinked against the harsh light of the morning and in replacement of his brother’s black form was instead a converging of trees, their emerald brilliance radiating in the rays of sun. A sigh ripped from his mouth, as harsh and forceful as they come, and he once again tossed aside unwanted thoughts. One could never know how hard it is to rid yourself of emotions or thoughts until you lost one that you loved. It was damn near impossible.
Registering the fact that he was near water he careened his body and continued onward faster than before. He danced with a trot that exemplified the extraordinary leanness of the creature, he was a perfect example of a cross breed but despite that he was beautiful and majestic. The intense blue of his eyes shimmered in the sunlight, perfecting a hue that stretched across his body with elegance. Patterns of shade bathed over him as he ran, fading in and out of the light. It wasn’t long before he reached the edge of the water; the gleam off the ripples that reached the beach was impeccable. It stirred within him a thought of appraising nature and her bountiful beauty. Cat tails and the like poked from the surface of the insipid, their reflections a wavering image of themselves. The rising sun was reflected too, but its distortion reminded Alsvidur of a bursting volcano. Delicate blades of grass were placed too close to the water’s edge and as a result they were browning. It seemed to make a perfect home for frogs and other marine creatures however for as the shadow of Alsvidur approached they dispersed as quickly as field mice. For some strange reason this made the equine chuckle aloud, his lips parted to reveal the rounded chunks of teeth that lined his gums. Round eyes of deep blue were gazing into a mirror of himself then, and it startled him to see the façade. Gentle beige circles clouded the deep brown around his eyes, and the patterns mirrored each other on either side. Parting at the bridge the gentle beige hairs faded back to brown, and somehow this accented the brilliant cerulean of his orbs. His ears twitched and the action was mimicked in his reflection. There was something about the horse staring back at him that was missing, and before Alsvidur could figure it out, he turned away, before the image turned into his brother and haunted him for the rest of the day.
A sigh did well enough to cause ripples along the surface of the water’s edge, and though he no longer stared into his face, he noticed the fish under the insipid. They surrounded his hooves with curiosity, or Alsvidur could only assume. He curved his neck and dipped his head then; drinking the clear and feeling the refreshment entering his mouth. It quelled the quenching itch that had been in his throat, and he took several long sips, in hopes to satiate his nourishment. Was he being watched? It could have been so, but he paid no attention now to his surroundings, instead the handsome bay stallion took to drinking, and tossing unwelcome thoughts from his brain.

Serendipity, a blob of black nestled within the cattails and bulrushes. Every now and again, her ears would pivot forward at the sound of a bird taking flight or singing it's song. You could say she was brought to the brink of reality every time, but she ended up going back into dream land. It was a marvelous place that she was able to escape reality and just be herself, or at least, all three of her. She had a very vivid dream, she dreamed that her sister had not been a stillborn and her mother was never ill and that her father was still with them. Her sister had taken after their father more than Sere did and it was quite amazing. She felt safe and relaxed, two things she hadn't quite felt for quite some time.
A bright light took away her vision and she found the experience all to be very painful. Sere, not being a huge fan of pain, was awake within seconds. She squinted at the sun, it's rays grasping over the horizon and trying to climb higher. She stood up with a sigh, quite saddened that her dream hadn't been real. She was not too happy that she had been awakened in such away, but then again she was at fault for sleeping facing the direction the sun rose every day. Well, it wasn't like she was able to tell it off or anything, not that she really wanted to either. She lifted her body off of the ground and found her legs to be a little stiff. She moved every legs, but didn't go anywhere. She simply picked up one foot and then put it down. She finally realized that the plant-llife beneath her body had been crushed and it was quite obvious that someone had just slept there. A few grass blades clung to the hairs on her belly, but most had been consumed by the ends of her tail.
Well, nothing we can do about that.. She exhaled through her nostrils, making a loud 'huff' noise. She turned toward the lake and found that her mouth had become dry and a grassy taste lurked in her mouth. She started off toward the murky water with a light trot, her head bobbed up and down as she moved and her mane and tail lifted slightly with the breeze she created. She came upon the shore quite quickly and slowed to a halt, her hooves sank into the mud slightly when she finally settled. Her mane draped over her hazel eyes and she could not see ahead of her without lifting her head higher and looking down. It was either that, or she shook the mane out of her face, which she rarely ever bothered to do.
She bent over and watched as fishes of all sizes scattered in every direction. She ignored it, though, and wished that fishes had a brain to recognize carnivores from herbivores, but they could not and that was simply life. Her tongue rolled across the cool water, feeling refreshed but not quite quenched, she continued to drink. Her long mane slid across her smooth skin and took a dive into the water. She raised her head away from the liquid finally and the mane settled back onto her ebony coat just a little past the shoulder. Liquid dripped from her mane and onto her skin, she flinched at the touch and she did not expect it to be so cold.
She shook her head then and the mane followed the movement, moving from side to side as droplets slid off of her mane and went flying in several directions. Once she stopped, her hair settled- a little more tangled than it had been before- and her bangs were not draped over to the side, revealing one large, almond colored eye could be seen as well as see everything around her. It was then that she noticed the stranger and her eyes widened ever so slightly, an almost inaudible, Oh. escaped her lips then, fairly surprised.

Blue eyes were heavy with relaxation as he drank; repose seeped into his bones, allowing the large frame of the equine some momentary peace. Hazy memories were clinging to his brain, seducing him into a reverie. A fight against these thoughts was almost easy now, as he had practiced the art for many a year. The cool insipid that flowed into his mouth was calming in such a way that he wanted to sink deeply into it, but as he thought of this a figure wandered into his vision perhaps as gorgeous as the most brilliant full moon. Stunned as he saw her approach he recognized that she did not notice his presence and so Alsvidur played dumb. He flicked his orbs of azure in the other direction, stomping a gentle foot in the water and flicking his ebony mane back and forth. In the sunlight the highlighted auburns that streaked his mane could be seen, and the dappled underbelly of cream was also very visible. There wasn’t a part of him that was unsettled and yet there was something in his mind that told in to turn and run away from the female. It wasn’t so much that she intimidated him, though maybe she should have with her massive size, but the equine blamed himself for the death of his brother, and as such he didn’t want to bring harm to anyone else, especially something so elegant and majestic like the horse across from him. It seemed unfair to drag something so beautiful into his world of despair. He meandered on that notion for a moment, it stuck to his tongue like glue and grinded against his teeth like sand. Alsvidur remained in place, allowing his tail to flick from side to side, swatting his flank as he stole glances at the entirely midnight female. Her mane and forelock were long, covering parts of her façade and blanketing her in a mystery that made him entirely too curious. He couldn’t clearly see her eyes, but he wanted too and it provoked him to move closer, despite the screaming in his head that told him to sacrifice her from his presence. He was much too hard on himself sometimes.
Lithe legs waded through the water’s edge and her head turned and her mouth form an ‘O’ that could only ever be adorable on her. As he continued closer he could make out the mane that fell off to one side of her face, blanketing one eye but leaving the other uncovered. It made her look shy, though he had no idea as to her persona. There was a tender hazel in the eye, mixing with a darker color that made them shimmer against the bright light of the rising morning. The long mane and tassel reminded Alsvidur of his sister, only where hers was black as midnight, his sister’s would have been a white as a dove. Amazing how he found some similarities when they were so entirely different, it only took one thing to remind him of his siblings, and the past that came along with them. He wanted to sigh aloud, but held it back and instead opened his pink dappled lips to speak.
“Hello, I am Alsvidur.” He wasn’t so sure if that was the proper way he should introduce himself, but decided not to dwell on that fact and instead focused on the mare in front of him. As a stallion he of course was thoroughly intrigued by her, but there were also things about her appearance he noticed that made him curious. The cascading waves of ebony at her backside draped against the ground and visible were the twigs and leaves that clung to the tips. He wondered if that was an indication that she was dirty, but he assumed not, as a long tail would be hard to keep clean either way. She was larger than him in size but he had here in height, if only by a small amount. This made his question whether or not she was keen on intimidating others, as Alvsidur was sure that he would given her stature. It was a blessed moment when the wind blew and tickled the hairs of her mane, tossing them around her muzzle with ease. It only increased the beauty that stood before him. How did he suddenly get so lucky? He managed a fair smile, something that may have not appeared all too often on the stallion’s face. His brilliant blue eyes were intent upon her, silently asking her name and where she was from. He wondered about her past and the likeness to her mother and father, did maybe she have a past as haunting as his? Maybe so, not that he wanted another soul to be tormented but misery needed its company.
Standing in the company of another was awkward, as he had been quite lonely for a while. Had loneliness been able to be a companion in and of itself than maybe Alsvidur wouldn’t have to worry. Life didn’t supply company in the way of your own words however, and instead he opted to speak to break the silence, if only to capture a taste of companionship.
“This is a nice place to relax…” A comment that would be repeated for ages he was sure. Alsvidur wasn’t entirely proud of the sentence he spoke, but it was a voice none the less and that is what he desired.

She watched as the stallion approached closer and closer. She wasn't sure what he was planning to do, but she didn't have any reason in turning tail and running away- as if he was a wolf disguised as a horse. A very interesting cross between a horse and a wolf popped into her head then and she could help but laugh quietly to herself. She tried extremely hard not to burst out into laughter, and for all she knew she succeeded because she was now quietly snickering to herself. Audits swiveled forward when the bay colored horse, with three white socks which are then continued by a black color and one leg in particular was completely onyx, started to speak. She also noted that his face said that he was a Trakehner, but the eyes told the story of an Arabian. She reasoned that this horse was not a purebred, but a mix of two horses of entirely different origins. She was captivated by his baby blue irises with the light cream rings encircling his huge eyes. A certain charm seemed to exude from him and she couldn't help but listen to every syllable that he spoke. Hello, I am Alsvidur.
She nodded in his direction, wondering why he had introduced himself in such a manner. She found him to be quite intriguing and as she looked into his eyes, she realized that he was looking straight back into hers. A light gasp escaped black lips and she became quite flustered. Why is he staring at us so intently?! She wondered frantically, Is there something on our face? She chanced a quick glance at the water and found nothing out of the ordinary on her face nor in her hair- though her hair had been reasonably tangled over the years after running and sleeping on the ground. Wait! Could it be he is waiting for us to introduce ourselves? She thought that to be more likely than any of her other ideas. She didn't hold her looks in high regard and didn't think it could simply be her beauty that he was staring at.
Hello Alsvidur, She sail, rolling his name out like the red carpet. She had wanted to try out his name first and see how it felt and surprisingly it was nice to say. My name is Serendipity She said it softly and then wondered if her voice had been too soft? She was just using her normal tone so she figured that he would hear it, if he didn't she was sure to feel embarrassed for having to repeat it a second time.

Being a patient creature Alsvidur was glad to wait for the black beauty in front of him to compose herself before speaking out loud. Honestly he was expecting something much different, perhaps arrogance to slide from her lips as soon as he had introduced himself. It seemed though his first impression of her had been all wrong and he took a moment to reset him preconceived notion of her. He studied her like an epistemologist would study knowledge, with such keen interest that nothing could be missed. Not a thing. There was nothing of contempt in his face, if anything Alsvidur was flabbergasted that he had gotten to meet something so pretty, and…just intriguing. He wanted to ask more questions of her, to know so much more than just her name but it seemed that she had chosen to speak and Als decided to listen. Her voice was honeyed and there was little Alscidur could do but shake against her speaking of his name. It seemed this was just a small preview of her words however because she took up speech again, her black lips moving in motion with her words.
Serendipity He mulled over her name in his head, blue optics closing for a brief second to really picture the name and commit it to his memory. He should leave now, before he could get any closer as where Alsvidur went, so did pain. Such beauty as Serendipity surely did not deserve what Alsvidur seemed to stow behind him in his shadow. A past that haunted him on a daily basis, though one could see little trace of such in his vibrant eyes.
“It is a pleasure to meet you Serendipity.” He spoke before his brain could comprehend what he was doing. He was acting like an emissary with the most important task of his life, even though it was just a simple introduction. Her beauty was refractory and Alsvidur had to blink against the link to really determine that she was still there, and he was not just dreaming. Against the flora that lay behind her she could have been a goddess of nature, she blended in well enough, having a body as black as coal and the shadows in which the trees cast. Alsvidur was in no way cumbersome but at the same time in comparison to Serendipity he felt a little thick at the edges and perhaps a bit too heavy to be taken seriously as an Arabian. He wasn’t covered in muscle, but he did have it, and he worked it out whenever he could. He figured that it was a masculine feature, but in the presence of Serendipity he held a sense of timidity about himself. His dark bay body was shimmering in the light available, his reflection stared back at him in the water, resembling the black body of his brother. Everything that had happened in Alvidur’s life played a significant role in who he was today. He hoped the Serendipity would give her approval at the type of persona he seemed to provide. That was Alsvidur, always seeking approval. It didn’t matter from who or what, but he wanted it, craved it like a vampire needs to feed.
Blinking the dappled brown and white of his face rose and his intense blue eyes met hers. He strode a step closer, causing ripples to dance across the surface of the water beneath his hooves. His tassel flicked this way and that, but his eyes were entirely intent upon the frame of this female. He had the intention of saying something but his own movements closer had rendered the equine speechless. A single step was all he took but it seemed enough to bring forth the scent of her, full and sweet into her nostrils. The faint scent of lilacs and a vivid scent of daises clung to her skin and it was perhaps the most sweet, prolific smell he had ever had the pleasure of breathing into his nostrils. Strangely this did not cause a reaction in him to shy in her presence, instead he grinned wildly. His lips pulled back in the gesture, but the rounded teeth that lay in a row along his gums were not visible. “Just satiating your thirst?” Alsvidur asked politely, dipping head toward her and letting the long locks of his mane fall forward around her neck and cheeks. They tickled his pelt, and his shivered against it.
