Kasimir Von Verrence
NAME. Kasimir Von Verrence
NICKNAME(S). Just call him Kasimir
AGE. Four years and four months
SPECIES. Horse
BREED. Rocky Mountain Horse
GENDER. Stallion
HEIGHT. 16 HH
WEIGHT. 1010 Pounds
COAT. Black
EYE COLOUR. Deep brown, almost black
NOTABLE MARKINGS. White snip on nose and Silver Dapple (Bought in shop)
PHYSICAL. The first thing to notice about this strong, abled equine would be the long locks of whitish-silver that flows along his neck, receding into a long and sinuous forelock that normally ebbs to the forehead, tickling with its longest hairs, the lashes of his eyes. The tassel is the same color, a tinged white-silver but is held in such a way that it appears short, compared to that of his mane. His main pelt color is as dark as the raven; able to be compared to the darkest and deepest midnight. This perfect stretching of ebony continues all through his thick and well-muscled frame, thicker than the coats of most horses in order to withstand the harsh seasons of the mountains. Ruining perhaps, the perfect pattern of solid black is a white snip along the muzzle that lends a pink hue to the very tip of his nose.
Being true to his breed, he is able-footed with an ambling gate that allows for smooth movement. With a strong heart and a body made for endurance, he really is quite a specimen, what with the confliction of colors and strong, brawny body made for the wild. More notable features of this wild stallion would be the curved ears atop his balanced head, and the wide, sloping chest. His eyes are bold, set in his head wide from each other but entirely captivating with all there inky blackness, tinged with only the darkest hue of almond. Such are the gateways into his mind and soul, but often reflect something of curious and quaint desire. For what, one could not be entirely certain, but it would appear this wild, majestic stallion is seeking something.
FEARS. Kasimir has a fear of failing and forgetting what is really important in life, which he thinks is family. He fears that he will one day find his sister dead or worse yet never find her at all. He also fears the evil within both himself and his father that he knows lies dormant. His father was evil, and as a product of such corruption he often fears that one day he will alter to be like his dad.
VICES. In respect to the body that he calls his own, there isn’t much to be considered a vice. He is quite the specimen of equine, doing well to represent the breed of a Rocky Mountain horse, though in the wild such may not be an asset. He preserves the makings of a well-bred stallion, and as such could get cocky in a fight, enabling his opponent to snag a blow. With an ambling gait his moves can often be predicted, putting him at a slight disadvantage, considering the movement of his hooves is bred into him, and unchangeable. Lastly he is a tall and heavy stallion, with an abundant amount of muscle along his body, meaning he isn’t going to go unnoticed in the way of hits. He is a very visible and large target and despite his dodging skill, can become a primary aim early on in the fight.
STRENGTHS. His curious eyes give him a great advantage when facing opponents, as he is investigative and keen, able to pick out small details unnoticed by an otherwise ignorant gaze. Strong hooves and a strong sense of when to use them also keep this stallion on his feet, he is agile and moves easily, often catching the sight of a moving target that comes toward him, enabling him to dodge quite effectively.
PET PEEVES. In all honesty he hates when people call him by his full name, but it is only because it reminds him of what his father has done to his family. The only reason he keeps this name to so that he can easily find his father, who abducted his sister so long ago. He also dislikes it when the sun is too bright or hot, it tends to bother him and make him become irritable. He shares a certain dislike but also respect for water.
LIKES. He is happiest when the climate is cold and there is a gentle chill along his back. He likes the sound of crickets in the night time, and the silence of the forest but most of all he enjoys memories of his mother and sister, before his biological father was thrown into the mix again, seemingly from nowhere. He also likes the look of the night sky, and examining feathers.
PERSONALITY. In a word Kasimir can be considered humbled by the events of his past. He seeks what he had when he was a foal, and that simply is to be a family again with his sister. Such being said he feels he holds a certain dark side to his personality, adding a assured air of mystery to a character that feels he has a lot to hide. Ashamed by what his father did to his mother both before they were born and after, he harbours guilt, resentment and a whole lot of feelings that he tries to ignore. Kasimir has a tendency to be quiet, however if he thinks he can get information or something of the like he will speak in mouthfuls, probably asking a lot of questions. He does not like to reveal his past, nor does he like to speak about his Father, as such he will often lie to get the information that he wants. That isn’t to say that this trait is pathological, perhaps it would be better descripted as manipulation. He does have charismatic skill and he will use this as needed as well; it would not be too much of a stretch to say that Kasimir would use these qualities to get information out of a mare either. Often he wonders if these mannerisms are from his father’s side of the family. He will commit this to memory for a few days, do some good deeds, and then return to the lifestyle he knows best, traversing and travelling the land in search of something that he doesn’t know truly exists.
He can often appear lost, but he always has a goal in mind, making his brain work on overload. However when relaxed he can come off as lazy and unaspiring, though quite would be the contrary if they knew his mission. When around the sects to get information he manages to be respectful and fulsome in the presence of a high ranking individual. Often he seeks information and just that, but if he can get a nights worth of rest and perhaps a romantic endeavor from the experience, Kasimir would gladly accept that as well.
MOTHER. Seredeca La Quidor - Deceased
FATHER. Biological: Jeddek Von Verrence – whereabouts unknown
Step: Kavo La Quidor – whereabouts unknown
SIBLINGS. Kaylamir Von Verrence – twin sister – alive/whereabouts unknown
HISTORY. To tell the story of Kasimr one must first know of his Father, Jeddek, the black stallion who dubbed himself a noble and began his pillage across the land. About the time of the outbreak, Jeddek was roaming the wilds looking for souls to torment and mare’s to harass. It was a rainy morning, with ominous looking clouds that ruled the sky, disabling the light of the sun. This weather matched the type of thoughts that erupted within his head. It was appropriate that rain dappled his raven coloured coat, and even more so that the dark sky blotted out any remnant of the sun. This stallion moved with purpose, knowing true and well his intent, and it seemed that there was no remorse for the actions he was to commit.
At the same time there was a mare, she belonged to a small sect made up of her family members and she knew that she was not in the boundary lines at this moment. She had left them behind in search of the herb that cured, and she was told it could be found around here. As she wandered the female had no idea she was being watched, nor stalked, in fact she was oblivious to the world around her, her focus only on the petals of her destined flower. Seredeca was her name, a resident healer in her sect who knew all too well the tools and trades of the forest. She was often referred to as kind.
The black of his eyes were on her in a matter of moments, capturing first her scent and then her luscious bodice. The stallion knew he would catch something soon, and thus the chase began. He moved like a shadow in the darkness of the morn, the rain pit-patterning across a ground that allowed him even-footing. As he approached she seemed to alert to his presence, and her head whipped in his direction.
What ensued next would be the product that gave birth to twin equines and sure enough, eleven months later Kaylamir and Kasimir were born. Seredeca loved the children like they were the product of love, even though they very much were not. She cared for them and raised them with her family until they were the age of two. She expressed to her children the story of how they were conceived, and that they bore their father’s name and not her own. It was very much a perfect life said for the past that Seredeca was forced to endure. They were happy with their parents and grandparents that lived in the sect and it seemed that everything was going quite nicely. Of course nice things rarely last as long as we think they do, and one day it was all ripped away, just as one may predict. Seredeca always hinted that one day their father would be back, and the twins never understood why, that is until he did return.
On that morning they were frolicking in the wilds, chasing and whinnying at once another while Seredeca watched from near on. She lay in the grass, her body aging and more fragile than it had been a few months ago. She appeared thinner, despite the mouthfuls she would graze on. Kasimir and Kaylamir were playing in the grass, their sounds fresh on her ears. Her coat was the color of melted honey, and her silver mane twinkled in the sunlight.
“They are mine…” the voice was dark and evil upon her ears, as if the devil himself had come to pay her a visit. She blinked, afraid to turn her head and see who was there, her skull was frozen in an emotion akin to terror. She didn’t have to move an inch however, because he appeared in her vision in a moment’s time, allowing her eyes to fall upon the large and frightening frame that was Jeddek. She paled in that moment, but her only fear was for her children.
“What makes you think that they are yours? I gave birth to them!” She spat, rising from the ground and fronting something she had waited years to face. Her blood boiled as she thought of the innocent that was stolen from her that fateful day that felt so long ago.
“I raised them! I gave them the life they needed… you played no part in that.” As malicious as her words were, she felt significantly frightened. Despite her defensive stance, she felt very much a lamb to a lion. In the background she could see her children, oblivious to the scene that unfolded before her in this very moment. They were playing, so happy, so healthy, and so beautiful. He could not take her children. The stallion, Jeddek glared down at the mare, his heart alive in his chest, admiration seeking refuge behind the deep darkness of his eyes. It was but a mille-second before it was replaced with the very depths of fury that can only be found in the vilest of beings. The stallion raised himself in the air, hooves like deadly canons falling with enough dynamism to shatter the earth in two. Seredeca was able to call out only one word before she was hit with the force of a thousand waves.
Kasimir was eyeing his sister, watching as she danced in the grass and sang to him. They were unconcerned with the environment around them, as they sang and danced with one another in the grass. The day was bright and the foliage tickled their legs, the bright ivory of their manes flashing in the light. In their youth, they had yet to grow into the dappled silver that would soon make home of their mane and tail. Kasimir can still remember looking into his sister’s eyes as they played within the grass. Her eyes had always been brighter than his…
“Run!” It was suddenly the loudest thing in the area. Louder than Kaylamir singing, louder than the birds calling to one another in the sky, louder than the scream that emitted from his mother’s mouth afterward. Kasimir and his sister were immediately alert, their eyes on their mother and her now crushed against the ground form. The devil’s eyes were looking back at them, from the orbs of glowing black that stuck in the face of Jeddek. He looked possessed, like a demon was inside of him, inhabiting his soul. Before they could react he was running toward them, the strength of his body barrelling upon them faster than anything they had ever seen. Suddenly fight or flight kicked in and they were off, dashing as fast as their legs could possibly carry them over the terrain. Kasimir could see the trees passing by in his peripherals, branches flicking his face and leaves being crushed beneath his young hooves. Kaylamir ran beside him, pressing their bodies together in order to feel some sort of safety that they knew was well out of their grasp. And yet they ran…and ran…and ran…
His legs burnt by the time he stopped, so did his brain and heart. He had barely enough time to register on the fact that he had never got the chance to say good bye to his mother before he passed out from the effort he had exerted, from the pounding, searing pain that broke his heart in half.
Awaking in the warmth of the sun was nice; it felt good on his back despite the ache in his legs and gentle pounding in his head. He was forced to open his eyes, blind against the light. Kasimir blinked, adjusting to the rays of the sun and looked around for his sister as he came to his bearings. The clearing appeared the same, but his sister was gone. He whinnied, calling out to nothing in particular but was answered by silence. Defeated, and entirely alone the frame of the equine dropped to the floor, once again succumbing to the pain the made home in his heart.
Awoken again he was by the faint calling of his name. It was so faint at first that he thought perhaps it was the wind.
Kasimir So soft and caring it was, so full of worry and concern. He had the desire to get up and go to it, but he could not find the strength. His energy had been planted in the ground like roots, rendering Kasimir immobile.
“Please…please…please be okay…” The voice quivered, but it was close now, close enough that it encouraged him to open his eyes. Never had Kavo’s sight been more welcoming than right now, and though he tried to move toward his step-father, Kasimir found that he was useless. He called out, a muffled whinny that took away all the breath inside of his lungs. Kavo found him then, and did everything in his power to get the foal up and back to the safety of the sect. Kavo became more than just a step-father in the years to come, he became a role model, and more importantly, a very good friend. Though Kavo hurt from the loss of his mate, he came to take in Kasmir as his own, never resenting and never angering. With the help of his step-father Kasimir grew into a fine stallion, with respect for both the living and the dead. Coping with the loss of his mother grew less and less difficult every day, but he wondered about his sister and father, and why he had been spared that day when Kaylamir had been taken. In time the desire to know about his father and whereabouts of his sister became much too intense to control. Kasamir left the sect after his grandparent’s death, leaving behind his step-father in order to search for the answers that have been haunting his dreams for so long.
