Steps were slow, even, and balanced picking their way cautiously over a terrain that was not well known. Wide ears perked at the sound of the concealed sands and the water that touched them. The air was penetrated deeply with salt, and it did Kasimir well to breathe it in severely. His nostrils flared, their edges crinkling against the heavy heaved sigh that shot forth from his muzzle. There was a lazy amount of light spread across the ground covered in pastel floral and crystal wet and as Kasimir picked his way through he noticed the dotted lines of streaky clouds passing overhead. The trees acted like an awning of sorts blocking out most of his view, but the detail he could detect indicted that soon it would be raining. The wind picked up around him, tickling the hairs as his hooves first and then twisting the silver silky strands of forelock around his eyes. His path was riddled with roots, from the various trees that laid in his vision. He could see yellow mangroves at the waterside, as if attacking the shallow with its sickly pale leaves. It somehow drew him closer, as he passed he noticed the various species of frog that lay dormant beneath the shade the plant provided, and this roused his curiosity. Delicately he moved to the side of the water, his hooves sliding deeply in sand that would not support his weight. He was forced to pull back and away from the curious creatures causing bubbles to break along the surface of the water. Kasimir took the time to assess them from a far and then he turned away from them bearing them no more importance. His shadow stalked him, keeping a hold of his tail to stay safe from getting lost. His dark eyes were scanning each and every direction, and yet he found himself distracted by all he came in contact with. He was acutely aware of the ocean being so close to him, and yet he stayed on his path, hooves picking out a safe way over the roots that broke through the hardened mire.
Something close to ire was stirring in the back of his mind by the time the clouds united high in the sky and began to pour down hard droplets of rain. They pock-marked his back like scars, etching a pattern that was inconsistent. The normally bright and silky tresses that lay along the neck were now a sodden gray mimicking the color of ash. Blinking his dark eyes against the scenery that was in front of him he stopped and took a moment to breathe in the salty ocean air. His tail lashed his back side, the wind helping to flick the tresses in every which way. Suddenly, from somewhere deep inside of his mind, he felt to shirk his responsibility of finding his sister and instead go treading deeply into the waters that were so close to him right now. It would be easy to do, and cost him precious few moments in which could be spent tracking the path onward through his incredulously thick mangrove. Kasimir pondered on this, his tail flicking in rejoinder of the thoughts that crossed his brain. Normally he was quite austere with setting his priorities straight, yet in this very moment such seemed unimportant. His ears were crossed with wind causing them to flick and in less than a second’s time Kasimir was parading himself across these lands with grace and ease. His dark eyes were kept downcast, watching both the ground that lay broken by roots beneath his feet, and in front of him, where the vast thick foliage grew, blocking a straight direction out of this covering of trees.
