ASTYN[/center]
NAME. Astyn.
NICKNAME(S). n/a
AGE. Six years.
SPECIES. Horse
BREED. Appaloosa x Thoroughbred
GENDER. Here.
HEIGHT. 16.1 hands
WEIGHT. 1,100 or so pounds.
COAT. Roan blanket with spots.
EYE COLOUR. A darker shade of sky blue.
NOTABLE MARKINGS. White blaze on forehead, white sock on hind right leg.
PHYSICAL. A thick blaze of alabaster separates a face of two contrasting shades. Chocolate hues paint the right side of her countenance while the left is mostly of ebony iridescence a bit dimmer than her snowy marking. The westernmost hue of her features gives way to the normal speckling of her dark pelt about halfway down her sturdy neck. Cascading from her neck and crop are long, flaxen locks of slightly tangled hair. During the winter one of her tell-tale traits are these light curtains of cocoa, as her tail often drags across the ground and her mane often droops to her chest. In the spring her body sheds most of it, along with her lighter winter pelt. No matter what season, though, Astyn always has one signature chunk of her forelock that trails down her forehead and curls upward to form a disconnected 'O'. The dapples and spots that are spread across her bodice are of darkened sorrel, at times nearing the tones of obsidian. They are somewhat thin and sparse, and are in an equal enough ration so that one would find it difficult to decipher if the base color of her pelt is white or brown. Her eyes are of lightning tone and shine with equal ferocity, glowing bright color that can best be described as electric blue or ice cyan. In the shadows, these orbs of stoic expression are tinted cobalt. A white sock is displayed on her back right limb.

PERSONALITY.
- CRUEL.
If you had the silly impression that Astyn is actually a nice person with a bad reputation, you were wrong. This mare truly can be mercilessly cruel at times, and can be stubborn about such as well. Most of those who deem her as this have experienced her hatred for foals, which she makes more verbal than she probably should. She despises offspring and would rather shove a splinter straight through her eye than bear some other horse’s spawn.- APATHETIC TOWARD MOST.
There are very, very few exceptions to her never-ending apathy. She quite frankly doesn’t care about your personal problems unless they involve her. If one is ever unfortunate enough to fall in love with her and get the ridiculous prospect of confessing their feelings stuck in their head, the first thing she will do is outright reject them and make them regret every moment of it. She certainly is not the kind to go out of her way to help others unless she gets something out of it or finds it enjoyable.- HATEFUL TOWARD MALES.
Unless you can do something to prove your worth to Astyn, you will be regarded a lumbering, idiotic creature in her eyes. This list of ‘somethings’ is very short, if not inexistent, and a complete mystery to Clash-kind.- LOYAL.
For all of her harsh, unbearable qualities, Astyn is loyal to those she travels or is affiliated with, even more so if she acts like she hates you. She generally only pledges loyalty to those she has no care for if she came act kind and sweet and benefit from using them.- FINDS IT HARD TO LOVE.
So far, Astyn’s capacity for love has been zero, but upon arrival to the Forest Heart, she has developed a sort of maternal affection for not a mare, not a stallion, not a brute or a bitch, but the forest itself. She feels like she has to protect it and its residents with her life. Because this newfound room in her heart has been filled, she will not allow herself to fall in love with something she can lose so easily, such as another being.- PRONE TO EXCEPTIONS.
With every rule, there is an exception. Just like with rules, there is an exception to almost every trait in Astyn’s personality, and most of them involve the Vessay. She has not been with them for long and yet she finds herself feeling endlessly loyal and committed to them. She has found that she doesn’t have to be so critical when around them, and has begun to treat them more like friends. Family is not the correct word, though; she hates the family of hers that she has know. She shows them respect that she never shows to others.

HISTORY.
The troubled creature was born in The Forest Heart, spawned forth into the leagues of the Vessay. She was not granted the luxury of a child spawned by love and raised by care. Her conception was for the purpose of reproduction and population only, but her father believed she did not belong in the sect. He stole the filly from the Heart and swept her away to the small origin group that was family deep in the Gypsy Forest where she could be nursed. Little did they know that they were being hunting by Vessay wolves, and the family, including her father, was mercilessly slaughtered for betrayal. The sought-out filly was escorted back in the direction of the Heart, but halfway there they were ambushed by a bachelor group of stallions collecting females. They fought the wolves off and took her as their own, delivering upon her the calling of ‘Astyn’ as they forced her upon yet another lactating mare named Flarisa.
She grew up on the run and surrounded by nothing but overpowering mares. It was not a kind bunch. When she was two months old she was forced to accept an older stag, Aztec, as her older brother, who was six months old. All throughout their childhood, she was terrorized by this older entity, and her surrogate mother could do nothing to stop him, as Aztec was the leader’s son, and any scolding would result in harsh punishment upon the one trying to correct his antics. When she was a year and a half old, Aztec began brutally beating her. He disguised it as accidents; it was all fun and games until Astyn conveniently tripped into the brambles or took a tumble into the shallow water with a bottom of sharp rocks. It was light, and yet it was heavy at the same time. He hurt her just enough so that she would be put through pain, but relented enough in his cruelty so that he would not leave scars. The filly was too submissive and scared to fight back.
When she was almost three years old, two things happened. The first was her mother growing tired of Aztec’s abuse, and speaking out against him. As he tried to strike Astyn with his hoof, he was thrown to the ground by the aging maternal figure. Flarisa was thrown into the depths of the Deadlands, and left to die. The second was a mate being forced upon her, but it was not any mate—it was Aztec.
The miscarriage of her first foal was no accident; Aztec had beaten Astyn too much in the later stages of her pregnancy, and she lost the foal. It was after this event that the previously submissive and timid mare began to stand up for herself. It was defending her own health from Aztec that she learned how to fight and take down larger opponents while doing so. Her bitter hatred for the bachelor herd and the male kind in general was fostered here. In time, she became her own mate’s terror. She knew his flaws, and she knew how to get under his skin, and she eventually drove him mad. She escaped from the bachelor herd with other mares when she was four and a half years old, and afterward the band of unruly stallions was never seen again. The escapees went their separate ways, and Astyn chose a life of wandering. For about six months she ventured across Toren, and it was after three that she became infected.
Her condition deteriorated until she heard of the Carnicula’s healing powers, as well as the Vessay. As soon as she was well again, she began traveling once more. She has just sought out the Vessay and is looking to join their ranks.
